Health Care Safety and Health

There's good news for growth in the health care industry. Health care represents the largest projected field for job growth in Oregon between now and 2012, with 7,000 new positions for Registered Nurses anticipated by state economic forecasts. Partnerships represent the best link for educating employers to anticipate their safety and health needs. Oregon OSHA is a member of the Oregon Coalition for Healthcare Ergonomics, and participated in presenting the 2004 Healthcare Ergonomics conference in Portland.

Now for the bad news. Additional work for health care professionals means more opportunities for workers to become injury statistics. Oregon OSHA is committed to helping Oregon's health care industries meet the demand for healthy, injury-free workers by focusing on training and creating zero-injury work environments.
