Students - How to Do It

Lower back and foot support
Look at the pictures and ideas below for ways to make some changes to have your body fit your workstation better.

Case study

Concern:
Look at the picture on the left. See how the student is leaning forward in the chair so that his feet can touch the ground. He is right that it is important to have his feet supported, but he is forgetting about his back.

Challenge: A different type of chair was not available.

Applied Ergonomics Solutions: To support his lower back this student used a piece of hard foam core as a pillow behind his back. A regular pillow from home could also have been used.
Old telephone books can be used as foot support for shorter students. You will see more examples of this throughout the site.
