ASSIGNMENTS

Important Tip! Writing drafts first, either offline or online, before submitting coursework, will help improve the quality of your work. On a sheet of paper, write your first draft responses for the following assignments. When finished, return to the online assignments page, enter your final coursework, and complete the course evaluation and certificate information.

See Appendix B for help in answering the extended response assignments.

Assignment 1: Discuss the benefits to (1)the employer, (2) the safety committee, and (3) employees when the safety committee performs as an internal consultant team rather than a "police squad."

Assignment 2: Assume a corrective action at your workplace will require a $2,000 investment. Use the information in Module Two to "sell" management on the benefits of taking corrective action. The recommendation should contrast the investment vs. benefits.

The recommendation should take the form of a cost/benefit analysis. Be sure you include the following:

  1. State the problem
  2. State the solution(s)
  3. State the investment required to correct the problem
  4. Estimate the dollar savings in direct and indirect accident costs
  5. Also describe other benefits the employer will realize

Assignment 3: Briefly describe the topics in which all safety committee members must be instructed and trained. Discuss at least three other topics that would be useful as training topics for committee members.
